- Title: NatureScot Commissioned Report 790: Infaunal and PSA analyses of benthic samples collected from Loch Alsh, in March 2014
- Summary:The aim of this investigation was to improve our knowledge on the occurrence and distribution of species and habitats of recognised conservation importance in Loch Alsh - part of the Lochs Duich, Long and Alsh MPA. Flame shell bed was recorded at three stations beyond the mouth of the loch, and in conjunction with preliminary results from video evidence, these records increase the estimated extent of the flame shell bed protected feature within the MPA. The ocean quahog Arctica islandica (a PMF species) was also recorded at four stations. A full assessment of video evidence will later be published to complement this report. Together, these will greatly improve our understanding on the distribution of the burrowed mud and flame shell bed protected features within Loch Alsh.
