• Summary:Open Mosaic Habitats on Previously Developed Land (OMHPDL), also known as brown field land, contributes valuable wildlife habitat within urban green networks. A remote assessment methodology was used to assess the sites listed as vacant on the Vacant and Derelict Land Register 2009 in Scotland. The study excluded sites within the Central Scotland Network. Of the 382 sites identified, 67 qualified as OMHPDL. In addition 12 OMHPDL sites identified during a previous assessment of derelict land listed on the same register were ground truthed. The remote sensing methodology proved to be effective at identifying OMHPDL. The report makes recommendations for OMHPDL survey.
