• Summary:In order to obtain information to support work on proposed Nature Conservation Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) and Marine Renewable energy developments, black guillemot populations were surveyed at five locations throughout Scotland from late March 2013 to early May 2013. The five areas surveyed were Fetlar-Haroldswick, Shetland; Papa Westray, Orkney; North Caithness; Small Isles (Rum and Canna); and the Sanda Islands in the Clyde Sea. The report shows the counts and compares them with previous surveys. Overall the results from the five sites show that black guillemot numbers have remained relatively stable or increased.
