• Summary:New Zealand pygmyweed (Crassula helmsii) (NZP) is an invasive, non-native, aquatic plant species. Once introduced, it may colonise water bodies rapidly and dominate the flora, to the detriment of native species. NZP is present in Mochrum Loch, which is part of the interest of the Mochrum Lochs SSSI in Dumfries and Galloway. A programme of survey and management was implemented under the Species Action Framework. Shading was found to be highly effective in controlling NZP and herbicide was used only as a supplementary measure.
