• Summary:Sunart Special Area of Conservation is one of the most important sites for oceanic bryophytes in Scotland, Britain and Europe. Incised river valleys, and particularly rocky ravines that may be suitable for hydropower, support a water-loving sub-set of these species. This report builds on Commissioned Report 449b (which provides guidance on assessing the importance of a watercourse for oceanic bryophytes). It presents the results of a full survey of over 100 watercourses within the Sunart woodlands in order to improve understanding of the interest across the site and enable better informed judgements on development proposals.
