- Title: NatureScot Commissioned Report 598: A review and evaluation of collaborative landscape-scale management initiatives
- Summary:The importance of landscape-scale management in delivering public benefits is widely acknowledged at a policy level. The report aimed to identify key ingredients for the success of landscape-scale management initiatives, as well as causes of failure, and to provide suggestions to improve support for landscape-scale management through the next Scotland Rural Development Programme (SRDP). A total of nineteen case studies were reviewed. The report concludes that the level of public vs. private benefit in a landscape-scale project is a major determinant of the type of approach that is required. In some cases ‘co-ordination’ may be sufficient for the delivery of the desired outcomes. Evidence also suggested the importance of using third party facilitation and existing networks.
